1. Acceptance
By creating an account, signing in, posting content, sending messages, uploading media, or otherwise using 24Ballot, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
24Ballot is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old, able to enter into a binding agreement, and permitted by law to use the service. The service is intended primarily for users in India.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for your account, profile information, and activity. You must provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized use. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create a safety risk, misuse civic or political content systems, or violate the law.
4. User content
You may create or upload posts, messages, profile information, civic updates, media, evidence, comments, and reports. You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, adapt for formatting, distribute, moderate, and analyze your content to operate, improve, secure, and promote the service.
You must have the rights needed to submit content. Do not upload content that infringes copyright, privacy, publicity, trademark, or other rights.
5. Prohibited content and conduct
You must not:
- Post hate speech, harassment, threats, bullying, or discriminatory content;
- Post violent, sexually explicit, exploitative, or illegal content;
- Post misinformation, manipulated media, impersonation, or misleading election claims;
- Reveal private personal data without consent;
- Spam, scrape, automate, or disrupt the service;
- Evade blocks, restrictions, moderation actions, or access controls;
- Attempt unauthorized access to accounts, APIs, data, or systems;
- Use the service for paid political advertising, coordinated inauthentic behavior, vote buying, gambling, or illegal campaigning;
- Upload malware or content that harms devices, networks, or users;
- Violate the Representation of the People Act, Election Commission of India rules, the IT Rules 2021, the DPDPA, or other applicable law.
6. Civic and political content
24Ballot is a civic platform, not an election authority. Civic information may include public records, user reports, news, manifesto references, maps, and community discussion. We may label, restrict, delay, remove, or require additional review for civic or election-related content. Paid political advertising, paid boosting, or sponsored reach for candidates or parties is not permitted.
7. Election silence periods
During election silence periods, including restrictions under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, we may restrict constituency-targeted election matter, disable certain publishing flows, suppress distribution, show legal notices, or remove content.
8. Moderation
We may review, label, limit distribution of, remove, or preserve content. We may restrict, suspend, ban, or verify accounts, using automated tools, user reports, and operator review. You can report content or accounts, and block users, in the app.
9. Reporting and grievances
You may report violations in the app or by contacting support@24ballot.in. We aim to acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, unless a shorter legal deadline applies. Valid court or government takedown orders may require faster action.
10. Blocks and safety controls
Blocking a user prevents unwanted profile, content, and messaging interactions where technically supported.
11. Verification
Some profiles may be verified. Verification is not an endorsement. We may request documentation, reject or revoke verification, and preserve verification evidence where required for trust, safety, legal, or fraud review.
12. Privacy
Use of the service is governed by our Privacy Policy. You consent to the processing described there, including account, profile, content, moderation, analytics, diagnostics, and device data needed to operate the service.
13. Third-party services
The service uses third-party providers for login, hosting, maps, analytics, error monitoring, storage, and push notifications. Their services may have separate terms and privacy policies.
Some news videos and live streams in 24Ballot are YouTube content, shown with YouTube's own player and YouTube API Services. By watching them in 24Ballot you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service.
14. Account deletion
You can delete your account in-app from Settings. Deletion starts a 30-day soft-delete period followed by deletion or anonymization, subject to legal, safety, audit, dispute, and backup retention.
15. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, the accuracy of user content, the completeness of civic information, or the legal fitness of any user-generated claim. Civic and political content may be incomplete, disputed, outdated, or user-submitted. Nothing in the service is legal, political, investment, medical, or professional advice.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of profits, loss of data, reputational harm, or damages arising from user content, service interruption, moderation decisions, or third-party services.
17. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims arising from your content, your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.
18. Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations, legal risk, safety risk, or operational reasons. Some records may be retained after termination where required for legal, moderation, safety, fraud-prevention, or audit purposes.
19. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in Telangana will have jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer or data-protection law requires another forum.
20. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted in-app or at this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
